Today, Sunday, the Municipality of Baghdad clarified that the reason for the weakness of water in some neighborhoods of the outskirts of the capital is the result of the failure of the electric feeders that secure its operation, stressing the cooperation of the Ministry of Electricity to maintain these feeders and secure the electric power needed for water projects.
A statement from the Municipality said, "Some areas on the outskirts of the capital, Baghdad, have witnessed a scarcity in the arrival of sufficient amounts of water during the past few hours due to breakdowns in the transmission lines of electric power feeding water production projects."
He pointed out, "There is high coordination with the Ministry of Electricity to deal with the electric power lines feeding the projects of the Baghdad Water Department, which were damaged, and to restore them to service."
He added, "The Municipality of Baghdad, under the direction of the Mayor of Baghdad, is working on the continuity of the work of its projects by relying on generators that ensure its operation at half of its designed capacity, as well as directing the municipal departments and the Baghdad Water Department to provide some of the affected alleys and neighborhoods with potable water basins until the maintenance of the electric feeders is completed by the Ministry of Electricity."
