A security source said, on Sunday, that electricity security plans had been re-evaluated in 3 axes in Diyala.
In an interview with Al-Maalouma, the source said, "The targeting of a main electricity transmission line in Salah al-Din prompted the security services in Diyala to reassess energy security plans, especially in remote areas that many electricity transmission lines pass through."
He added, "A security alert took place in 4 main axes through which main transmission lines of electricity pass, in anticipation of any direct targeting, as happened in Salah al-Din, especially since the experiences of the past years have proven that sabotage operations are not limited to regions, but rather it is a scenario that moves from one governorate to another."
He pointed out that "Diyala did not record any targeting of electricity transmission towers during 2023, but preventive measures are necessary to stop any attempts to recreate the electricity war scenario."
In the past years, Diyala has witnessed dozens of attacks against electricity transmission towers, which led to its interruption for days in large areas.
