Planning: The date of the census is “preliminary” and subject to scrutiny

The Ministry of Planning set November 20, 2024, as the initial date for conducting the population census, while the budget allocated for this year to prepare for its completion amounted to 100 billion dinars.
The details of the new date for conducting the census were revealed to "Al-Sabah" by the head of the Central Statistical Organization, Dr. Diaa Awad Kazem, explaining that a meeting of the Supreme Authority for the Census was held last month under the chairmanship of the Minister of Planning. 11/ 2024, noting that this date will be subject to control, scrutiny, and the approval of the Council of Ministers.
Kazem added that the Central Statistical Organization, as the technical executive body authorized to implement the census with the support of the rest of the ministries and the Kurdistan Statistics Authority, identified the most important stages of the work that depends on the financial support allocated for its completion, noting that there are amounts prepared and a special budget for the census as it is electronic and needs electronic systems, a data center and requirements kit technique.
And he continued that this year, an amount of 100 billion dinars was allocated, in order to implement the infrastructure requirements, and establish a data center with applications, calling for allocating sums that cover all stages of implementation for the next year, including human staffing that may reach 120 thousand counters and more than this number for trainers and training courses and cover field work.
He pointed out that the Central Statistical Organization will prepare a report at the beginning of next year to balance the field work, which will start from next May, and there will be a trial census, pointing out that the first stage of the census and the launch of the enumeration and numbering process will take two months, and then the population census begins in the month of 11 next year.
