The economic expert, Diaa Al-Mohsen, ruled out that the negotiations with the Turkish side would reach the result of oil in exchange for water, pointing out that ensuring that Iraq obtains its rights depends on the nature and strength of the negotiator with its Turkish counterpart.

Al-Mohsen told Al-Maalouma, "The Turkish side will work to impose impossible conditions on Iraq and continue to penetrate its policy towards the country, especially in the water file, if deterrent economic measures are resorted to against Ankara."
He added, "Turkey has preconditions that it set before Iraq in order to re-export oil from the Turkish port of Ceyhan, and this confirms that the Iraqi negotiator is still weak in front of his Turkish counterpart."
And he indicated that "the Iraqi government, if it is serious about resolving the important files with Turkey, especially the water file, it is unlikely that the negotiations will reach the exchange of oil for water, especially with Iraq possessing many cards that it can take as a factor of pressure against Turkey." ended 25 n
