    [size=45][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]On September 5-6, the UAE Journalists Association will host the meetings of the Standing Committee for Freedoms of the General Federation of Arab Journalists, in the presence of the President of the Union, Moayad Al-Lami, and Muhammad Al-Hammadi, President of the Emirati Journalists Association, Assistant President of the General Federation of Arab Journalists, and Abdel-Wahhab Al-Zaghilat, Chairman of the Freedoms Committee, and with the participation of representatives of unions And bodies and associations from 18 Arab countries, and many fellow members of the Standing Committee for Freedoms in the Union.
    A statement by the UAE Journalists Association stated: “The Freedoms Committee of the Federation will launch its annual report on the state of press freedoms in the Arab world for the years 2022-2023, which will include monitoring of the state of press freedoms in the Arab world based on the reports of the 18 press organizations that are members of the Federation. Arab, by monitoring examples of violations against Arab journalists and media professionals, and clarifying the current situation of freedom of the press and the efforts of the boards of member press organizations in supporting freedom of opinion and expression.
    He added, "The meeting of the Freedoms Committee will precede the meeting of the Policies Committee of the General Union of Arab Journalists, chaired by Diaa Rashwan, Chairman of the Committee, with the participation of Moayad Al-Lami, President of the Union, and members of the Committee, on Monday 9/4/2023."
    The President of the Emirates Journalists Association, Mohammed Al Hammadi, welcomed the UAE guests of Arab journalists in their second country, the Emirates, stressing the importance of this periodic meeting hosted by the UAE through the Emirates Journalists Association and the role played by the Union in general, and the Committee in particular in defending press freedoms in the Arab world, and the role What the committee must do in the face of external reports issued by organizations far from the reality of the region.
    Al-Hammadi stressed, according to the statement, the need for the federation to issue reports and statements during this meeting that record a clear position in the face of professional challenges, in addition to issuing reports evaluating the situation of journalism in the Arab countries, and helping it to move towards the future steadily in light of the challenges that the profession and the world are witnessing.
    The statement quoted the Secretary of the Emirates Journalists Association, Fadela Al-Muaini, as saying: “This meeting will have a pioneering role in formulating issues related to the profession of journalism, such as media freedoms and social networking sites. Digital freedom and legal responsibility in the digital age.
    Al-Moaini added: The presence of Arab journalists in the United Arab Emirates in general and Dubai in particular is an opportunity to learn about the Emirati experience in the field of journalism and media, and to meet with journalists from various Arab countries.[/size]
