[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Today, Sunday (September 10, 2023), a member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Muhammad Al-Khafaji, revealed the details of the draft law granting the employee regular leave, which is included on the agenda of the House of Representatives session scheduled to be held tomorrow, Monday.
Al-Khafaji said in a post on his Facebook page that the draft law includes the following: (granting the employee 5 years or more leave with half the nominal salary, granting the employee 5 years or less leave without salary, the duration of the leave is not counted for retirement purposes except after the retirement contributions are paid).”
He pointed out, “The draft law is old and sent from 2016 and was replaced by a text that is included in the budget law every year.”
He added, "The law will not proceed according to the draft sent by the government and will be amended by the Legal Committee."
Regarding the reason for the law granting vacations to employees and not discharging them, Al-Khafaji explained, saying: “Their numbers are very large, and the meals that were recently appointed have made most of their departments lack a seating place for them.”
Regarding the cessation of appointments, he said that “it does not start (with the push of a button), as it provides job and livelihood opportunities for thousands of citizens for whom all governments have not found any alternative.”
He pointed out that "Iraq's export of oil and the call for its price to rise is no longer useful in the issue of appointments."
Al-Khafaji noted that “the Retirement and Social Security Law for Workers, which was legislated months ago, and the regular private sector is the solution, despite its difficulty with the governments’ policies followed.”
It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives is scheduled to hold its regular session tomorrow, Monday, and its agenda (fifth paragraph) includes the first reading of the draft law granting the employee regular leave submitted by the Parliamentary Legal Committee, which includes 7 articles.
