Fadel said in an interview with Al-Sumaria News, “The[url=https://www.alsumaria.tv/Entity/4128278475/%D9%88%D8%B2%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A9 %D8%A7%D9%84%D9%83%D9%87%D8%B1%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%A1/ar/]Ministry of Electricity[/url]has given high priority to relying on strategic projects sourced from national gas.”
He continued, “We proceeded towards combined cycle projects worth 4,000 megawatts without fuel, and we accomplished what was related to the ministry during the first six months of the government’s life,” adding: “We signed electricity contracts in accordance with the government program set by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.”
He added: "We succeeded in initiating and signing three contracts for solar energy projects, with a total of 2,400 megawatts, to add energy without relying on imported gas."
The Minister of Electricity indicated, “Proceeding with the fifth licensing round for the first phase, and we are in the process of preparing the second phase, and starting the sixth licensing round, which will focus on investing in associated gas.”
