, the Minister of Electricity, Adel Karim Agency, set the date for the completion of the gas import line from Qatar, and while he confirmed that the ministry aims to reach 35,000 megawatts within more than four years.
Karim said, "You should not rely on a single source in the gas issue," noting that "talks are continuing with Qatar to import gas."
He added, "Within a year or 15 months, the process of importing Qatari gas will be completed if the capabilities are available," stressing, "We signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabia to import energy."
He pointed out that "the line from Saudi Arabia will be through Arar - Yusufiya and with a new system," noting that "the first phase of importing energy from Saudi Arabia is estimated at 500 megawatts and the second at 1000 megawatts."
He explained, "The import line from Saudi Arabia is different from the line from the Gulf," noting that "
He pointed out that "a total of 171 electric towers were blown up," stressing that "in a year or more, the electrical connection line with Jordan will be completed to supply the western region."
He stressed that "we will receive 500 megawatts from Turkey soon," noting that "Iraq will be the transit country for energy."
And he indicated that "Iran currently supplies Iraq with only 8 million standard cubic meters of gas," stressing that "a delegation from the ministry will go to Iran soon to solve the gas crisis."
He continued, "Iran has debts on Iraq estimated at one billion and 692 million dollars, and this is the result of accumulations," noting that "the cost of Iranian gas is less than 4 billion dollars annually."
He explained, "We did not receive a single megawatt from Iran last summer," noting that "currently we receive only 500 megawatts from Iran."
He continued, "We now have the capacity to produce 21,000 megawatts with ease, but our need is estimated at 35,000 megawatts," noting, "We plan to reach a production of 26,000 megawatts next summer."
He pointed out that "informal areas consume 20% of energy production," stressing that "we will file a lawsuit against those whose collection exceeded one million dinars." Ended 29 / p. 87
