The Basra Electricity Distribution Directorate announced today, Thursday, that the “Najibiya University” staff, which operates with a capacity of 33 kV, had been robbed.
The directorate stated in a statement received by “Al-Iqtisad News” that “the 33 KV cable was stolen by unknown persons at dawn today,” denouncing this act, noting at the same time the power outage in a number of areas, including “Basra University and the Abu Sakhir areas.” Tariq neighborhood, Al-Sadiq neighborhood, the academy and other areas.”
The statement added, "This project is part of the Basra distribution plan for the year 2023, which solves the bottleneck in the northern areas of the governorate and the Five Mile area."
The statement indicated that work is still continuing by the directorate's staff for maintenance and inspection, with the aim of returning the midwives to work, and an investigation will be opened into the accident in order to identify the perpetrators and arrest them.
