{Economic: Al-Furat News} The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, revealed today, Tuesday, that positive understandings had been reached during recent meetings with the delegation of the Federal Ministry of Oil.
This came during a press statement made by the Prime Minister, on the sidelines of his attendance at an art exhibition, within the activities of the Institute of Fine Arts Festival in Erbil.
Masrour Barzani said: “We held good meetings yesterday with the Minister of Oil, Deputy Federal Prime Minister, during which we were able to discuss a number of topics regarding the entitlements of the people of Kurdistan, according to the constitution.”
He added, "The Kurdistan Region has done everything it has to do, from a technical and legal standpoint, and the federal government must adhere to the constitution with regard to the Kurdistan Region's financial entitlements."
He continued, “We talked a lot about the constitutional rights of the people of Kurdistan with the Federal Oil delegation, and we asked Baghdad to send the late salaries, and the delay is certainly on Baghdad’s part.”
A government delegation from Baghdad, headed by Iraqi Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani, arrived on Sunday in Erbil to discuss resuming oil exports with the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival at Erbil International Airport, Abdul Ghani said that the aim of the visit was to bring closer views on resuming the export of Kurdistan’s oil.
He added: The first step is to reach an agreement with the producing companies and the regional government about resuming production and adapting the currently existing contracts to fit the budget law, stressing that there are understandings between Baghdad and Ankara regarding resuming oil exports through the Iraqi-Turkish line.
The meeting with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, was the first stop for the visiting delegation consisting of Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul Ghani, assistants, general directors of the ministry, and the general director of SOMO.
During the meeting, Masrour Barzani renewed the region's readiness to resume oil exports within the framework of joint understandings to meet the financial and technical requirements for the export process in accordance with the constitutional foundations and contracts owed for the expenses of oil production and transportation from the region and allocated within the federal budget.
