Shafaq News/ A document found by the Israeli army on a computer belonging to a Hamas official revealed the nature of its relationship with Iran and the “cover” used to train Hamas members to manufacture weapons in Iranian universities.

The American CNN network reported that the document was obtained from a computer that was found inside a Hamas minivan outside Gaza, and the network viewed it through Israeli officials.

The document includes a request from a Hamas military commander addressed to the Iranian authorities to provide a scholarship for movement activists to study engineering, physics, and technology in Iranian universities.

While it is widely known that Iran provides financial and military support to Hamas, Israeli officials and some former US intelligence officials say the document is evidence that in the lead-up to the October 7 attack on southern Israel, Iran seeks to provide technical training that will help Hamas produce its own weapons.

The Israeli government refused to comment on the document, although sources in the government confirmed its authenticity in the background.

An Israeli official said: “This example is another piece of an elaborate puzzle of the deep infrastructure for building, supporting, financing and training terrorist agents by the Iranian regime around the world and especially in the Gaza Strip.”

Israeli officials say this is the first known time that Iran has tried to fund this type of university-hosted training for Hamas activists, a claim American officials said they could not confirm.

CNN was unable to independently verify the authenticity of the message, but current and former US officials said it was consistent with how Iran has projected its power throughout the Middle East. Iran has used scholarships to build its influence, develop potential intelligence assets, and advance its ideology since the founding of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement. In the eighties of the last century.

A spokesman for the Iranian mission to the United Nations did not respond to a request for comment from CNN.

Since October 7, Israeli government officials have sought to emphasize Hamas's ties to Iran, and it does not appear that Tehran had any direct involvement in planning or carrying out the attack, but both Israel and the United States have said that Iran is widely guilty of... Its historical support for the group.

The document appears to be a letter dating back to last July from a Hamas military commander to the Iranian government requesting that seven members of his unit be allowed to travel to Iran to participate in a scholarship program.

According to an Israeli official, Hamas fighters also received explicit training in explosives engineering through a university program, training that was likely provided by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Former intelligence analyst specializing in the region, Jonathan Banikoff, says that the university's program indicates that Iran wants Hamas and other proxies to have increased military capabilities so that they are not completely dependent on Tehran.

The letter includes details of the name, military number, phone number, and “specialization” of each candidate, and one candidate is marked to study technology, one to study physics, one to study engineering, one to study programming, one to study law, and two to study management.
