Iraq is gradually approaching the date of holding provincial council elections in a race run by the Commission, which says that its operations in organizing and securing the vote on December 18 are “unparalleled in the world.”
The head of the Commission’s media team, Imad Jamil, explained to “Al-Sabah”: “The Commission will install more than 11,000 audio and video cameras in electoral centers and stations for documentation, before receiving any complaint or appeal,” indicating that “the Commission will come with a USB flash drive.” “From all 35,553 devices to match them with the results inside the ballot boxes.”
Jameel added, “The ballot paper will carry more than one security mark, as the results will be sent electronically from the stations to the servers within 6 hours and will be announced within 24 hours before 6 p.m. on December 19.”
The official in the Commission pointed out that “there are counting and sorting centers in each governorate to count and sort the boxes in the event that they fail to be sent via the carrier medium, in addition to transferring complaints and appeals to these centers to take appropriate measures, and if there is a difference of more than 5% in the results, all boxes are transferred.” to those centers.
In turn, the spokesman for the Security Media Cell, Brigadier General Miqdad Miri, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “The Joint Operations Command has completed the logistical preparations for holding the general and private elections,” pointing out that “a plan was prepared that did not include any cuts or curfews, with the airports being closed during Polling day only.
Miri stated that "the governorates have completed all security preparations in electoral centers throughout the country at the same time."
