    {Politics: Al-Furat News} Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani stressed today, Saturday, not to exert any form of pressure on the members and leave the choice to them in electing whomever they deem appropriate.
    A statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office, received by {Al-Furat News}, stated that “the Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani, made a visit to the headquarters of the Joint Operations Command.”
    He added, “During the visit, and via a television circuit, Al-Sudani was briefed on the progress of implementation of the security plan to secure the governorate council elections, and the special polling situation that began this morning. He also followed up with the operational commanders in the governorates, the security and electoral situation in their governorates.”
    The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces stressed, “Exerting the utmost efforts to provide a safe atmosphere, ensuring the success of the elections, and fulfilling the aspirations of citizens for free and fair elections.”
    The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces renewed his previous directives to the security and military leadership, “not to exert any form of pressure or influence on the choices of members, and to leave the choice to them in electing whomever they deem appropriate.”
    He stressed "taking the highest levels of preparedness to confront any security breaches aimed at disrupting the electoral process."
