It is expected that an extraordinary session will be held to elect the Speaker of Parliament after the elections, provided that there is an agreement among the Sunni component regarding reducing the number of candidates so that there is no fragmentation of votes.
A member of the House of Representatives, Yasser Al-Husseini, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: that, at the request of the Sunni component, the special session that was scheduled to choose the Speaker of Parliament last week was postponed for the purpose of vetting the names of the candidates, revealing that the number of candidates had been reduced so as not to disperse the votes and to proceed with a candidate. Consensual.
He added that the Shiite and Kurdish components and other blocs are in agreement and are waiting for the session after the Sunnis agree on the candidate, stressing that the candidates will be limited to two or three only.
Al-Husseini expected that it would be An extraordinary session after the elections to elect the Speaker of Parliament, and there will be no waiting for the end of the legislative recess, indicating that had the candidates not been busy with electoral campaigns, the extraordinary session would have been held, but what is important is that the Sunni component agrees on their candidate.
