     The Director General of Roads and Land Transport in Ilam Province (western Iran), Zahin Cheshmeh Khawar, announced on Monday that more than one million and 285 thousand tons of goods have been transported through the Mehran border crossing with Iraq during the current year.
    Mehr Agency reported: “Since the beginning of this year, more than one million and 285 thousand tons of goods have been transported through the Mehran border crossing, of which 42 thousand and 530 tons were unloaded at the border, and 10,609 tons of them were exported directly to “Out of bounds.”
    He pointed to an increase in the rate of goods transport by five percent through the Mehran border crossing, adding: “During the aforementioned period, more than one million and 218 thousand tons of goods were transported by 47 thousand trucks.”
    The Director General of Roads and Land Transport in Ilam Governorate noted the volume of passenger movement across the Mehran international border and said: “Since the beginning of this year until the end of last month, 6,219,877 people traveled across this border.”
    He continued by saying, “In general, passenger traffic from Mehran’s international borders increased by 35% during this period compared to the same period last year.”
