The Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee announced that there are many problems and obstacles facing the laws related to the sorting of agricultural lands and orchards, indicating that the law on treating slums was withdrawn by the government to be redrafted.
Committee member, Haider Shihan, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “Many of the important laws that are in the interest of construction and services collide with many problems, which causes a delay in the work of municipalities, in addition to what the Municipality of Baghdad is suffering regarding lands.” He added that “there are three Laws that were read only once and are still on the discussion table for the benefit of the Baghdad Capital Municipality and the municipalities, namely (the law on sorting agricultural lands and orchards, the road law, and the treatment of slums), explaining that “legislating these laws will contribute to amending sectoral designs within the basic plan for housing and public services, in addition to To construct roads and lift restrictions on lands burdened with dispossessive rights.” Shehan pointed out that “the law (treatment of slums) was withdrawn by the government for the purpose of amending it and drafting it in a legal form according to the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, during his meeting with members of the committee and discussing this law, which will contribute to Serving citizens and serving relevant institutions.”
