The Federal Integrity Commission announced, on Monday, the issuance of a preliminary ruling ordering the imprisonment of a general director in the Ministry of Industry and Minerals for committing the crime of bribery.
The Authority’s Government Media and Communications Office stated, according to a statement seen by Al-Iqtisad News, “that the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court issued a pre-trial ruling against the Director General of the General Company for Hydraulic Industries in the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, sentencing him to six years in prison for committing the crime of bribery.” .
The office added, “The ruling decision was issued against the backdrop of bribery charges against the accused, after the Baghdad Investigation Directorate of the Commission’s Investigation Department was able to entrap him and catch him red-handed in receiving a bribe amounting to (25) million dinars in his office in exchange for passing contract documents.”
He explained, "The court, after reviewing the evidence obtained in the case and the original arrest report organized by the Baghdad Investigation Directorate, reached sufficient conviction of the negligence of the accused, so it issued a decision to convict him and sentence him in his presence to six years in prison."
He continued, “The ruling decision, which was based on the provisions of Resolution (160 of 1983) as amended, and in reference to the subscription articles (47, 48, and 49) of the amended Penal Code No. (111 of 1969), also included a fine of ten million dinars, and giving the right The affected party (the Ministry of Finance) and the complainant may request compensation after the decision becomes final.”
