The secretariat’s assistant media director, Saad Bukhati, said, “The government, as part of its effort to solve part of the problem of the housing crisis in agricultural areas, slums, and encroachments, issued Resolution No. 320 of 2023 to activate Resolution No. 580 of 1980 and Resolution No. 581 to convert the type of state-owned agricultural lands to residential and ownership of them to its occupants,” according to the official Sabah newspaper.
He added, "The municipalities of the secretariat have completed all the transactions submitted by citizens who own housing units on agricultural lands with the aim of converting them to residential."
Bakhati stated that “the current government has looked to one of the most important concerns of citizens, which is housing on those lands,” pointing out that “the implementation of this decision requires the combined efforts of all ministries, including the Ministry of Agriculture.”
