    The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed today, Tuesday, the importance of respecting Iraqi sovereignty, and stopping military violations and abuses affecting Iraqi territory, stressing the need to address the water issue and ensure a fair share for Iraq.

    A statement from the Presidency of the Republic, received by Alsumaria News, stated, “The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received at Baghdad Palace the Turkish Minister of Defense, Yasar Guler, and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Assistant Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Saad Mezher Al-Alaq.”



    He pointed out, "During the meeting, ways of developing and strengthening bilateral relations and prospects for joint cooperation were discussed, especially in the fields of security and intelligence information, in a way that serves the security and stability of the two countries, in addition to the water file and trade exchange, in a way that secures the common interests of the Iraqi and Turkish peoples."

    The President of the Republic stressed "the necessity of resolving the border problems and security files between the two countries through mutual cooperation, consultation and coordination, and forming security committees from both sides to identify the problem and develop the necessary solutions for it, and rejecting unilateralism in addressing the outstanding issues, or the land of Iraq will be a starting point for a threat to neighboring countries or others." .

    He stressed "the necessity of respecting Iraqi sovereignty, stopping the military violations and violations that affect Iraqi lands, including the cities of the region, and resolving the outstanding issues between the two sides through dialogue and continuing meetings to establish security and stability for the peoples of the region."

    The President of the Republic also touched on the water file, and pointed out that “Iraq appreciates the conditions that the countries of the world are going through and their rationing of water due to climate change and the increase in population numbers,” stressing “the necessity of addressing the water file technically and ensuring a fair share for Iraq to meet its needs, and activating the work of joint committees.” And benefit from experiences in water file management.”

    He pointed out, "Some Turkish measures to stop flights between Sulaymaniyah Airport and Turkish cities, which would disrupt joint cooperation and hinder the maintenance of social relations between the two peoples," pointing to "common interests, especially in irrigation projects and generating electrical energy on the Zab River, as well as... The presence of Turkish businessmen and companies and the increase in trade exchange is considered a starting point for reaching common understandings of the obstacles facing the two countries.”

    Regarding the situation in Palestine, the President of the Republic stressed “Iraq’s support for its Palestinian brothers in obtaining their legitimate rights, and its rejection of the continued aggression against civilians and health and service institutions,” praising “Turkey’s position in supporting and assisting the Palestinian people.”

    For his part, Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Guler expressed his country's "support for the security, stability and sovereignty of Iraq and its aspiration to strengthen relations of cooperation and joint coordination in various fields in a way that achieves the mutual interests of the two friendly peoples."

    The Turkish minister explained that "there is mutual cooperation that includes building a joint operations center and also a project to build three dams on the Zab River," expressing his interest in "developing a solution for the return of flights between Sulaymaniyah and Turkish cities."

    On the occasion of the first anniversary of the earthquake, the Turkish minister praised “Iraq’s position in providing aid to the Turkish people,” stressing that “his country supports consolidating security and peace and resolving all problems.”
