The President of the Arab Parliamentary Union, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, considered the repeated attacks on Iraqi security sites a step to expand the conflict, calling on the Arab and international community to take a serious and firm stance in the face of a dangerous slide that is pushing the world into conflicts and crises.
Al-Mandalawi said, in his speech during the launch of the meeting of the Arab Parliamentary Excellence Award Committee and the thirty-third session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Parliamentary Union, in the capital, Baghdad, with the participation of heads of delegations of Arab parliaments, members of the Executive Committee of the Arab Parliamentary Union, in addition to 17 Arab delegations: “The entity’s persistence The Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, its violation of human and moral values and international legitimacy resolutions, and the series of blatant attacks in Yemen, Syria and Lebanon through the Zionist aggression machine, or in Iraq from repeated attacks on sites or figures belonging to the security forces by countries supporting this entity. It represents a blatant violation
For sovereignty.
The President of the Union of Arab Parliaments called for the draft conference agenda to include the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s call to freeze the membership of the Zionist entity’s parliament, and the Arab governments’ efforts to isolate and freeze the membership of its representatives in all international forums, and expose its criminal practices, stressing “the importance of increasing cooperation between the union’s parliaments.” Strengthening positions and effective and influential presence in all forums, agreeing on crucial issues, confronting the dangers and challenges facing our Arab countries, and coming up with decisions based on the foundations and principles of the Union that aim to achieve progress, peace, brotherhood, and support of Arab issues, most notably the Palestinian issue.”
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament Union, Fayez Al-Shawabkeh, stated that “the activities of the last conference and all the activities and events that were presented to the council’s upcoming agenda were discussed.”
Al-Shawabkeh added in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that “the meeting discussed many procedural issues and everything was agreed upon and a press statement was issued regarding issues of concern to the Arab world,” explaining that “this committee is conducting the work of the union between the two conferences.”
