The Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee set the deadline for completing the construction of the Grand Al-Faw Port.
Committee member Zuhair Al-Fatlawi told the official newspaper that his committee is working to amend the Maritime Authority Law of 2019 in order to have an independent maritime authority that regulates the work of all sectors of the Ministry of Transport regarding ports and maritime transport.
He pointed out that the world is turning to maritime transport because it is one of the most profitable sectors in the world, noting that Iraq is close to completing the Al-Faw port by 2026 or 2028 at the latest, as well as through development.
Al-Fatlawi pointed out that the committee will host naval experts to come up with a final version of the law because it is important and in the interest of Iraqi maritime sovereignty and regulates the work of the entire maritime sector.
