    Economy News - Baghdad

[rtl]Today, Wednesday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee attributed the failure to implement the provisions of the Social Security Law for workers in the private sector, despite its entry into force, to the interventions and influences of capital owners and companies, while clarifying that there are no real indications of the executive authority’s efforts to implement this law.[/rtl]

[rtl]Committee member, Muhammad Nouri, said that although the law has entered into force, no instructions have been issued to implement it until now, due to interventions by capitalists and company owners.[/rtl]

[rtl]He added, "Foreign labor companies in particular do not want the private sector and Iraqi labor to flourish, because they will be affected by the employment of Iraqis by bearing percentages of the financial payment to ensure their retirement."[/rtl]

[rtl]The finance member explained that “the evasion of large companies and factory and factory owners from paying these compensations is another obstacle to implementing the provisions of this law,” noting that “the state does not have capital to cover the needs of social security, in addition to the lack of real intention on the part of The executive authority to implement this law.”[/rtl]

[rtl]In its twenty-seventh session, held on May 17, 2023, the Iraqi Parliament voted on the draft law on retirement and social security for workers.[/rtl]
