Rashid said in a speech on the occasion of the first centenary of the founding of the first Iraqi parliament in 1924, that Iraq emerged from the era of totalitarian regimes, after the people rejected the oppression of the dictator in more than one uprising, which was faced with repression and extermination until the land of Iraq was filled with the bodies of the martyrs, which resulted in a democratic regime. It was embodied in the 2005 constitution, indicating that Iraq was at the forefront of countries that established a constitution that was, at the time, the most developed and democratic in terms of principles, foundation, and guarantee of rights and freedoms.
He added that we, as political leaders and decision-makers, must complete the creation of the institutions stipulated in the Constitution, first and foremost the Federation Council, in order to make our democratic experiment a success, calling on the political forces and the House of Representatives to expedite the election of a new Speaker of the House of Representatives to complete and legislate laws that serve the nation and the citizen.
