A survey of beggars and abused women in Kirkuk

The Women’s Empowerment Committee in Kirkuk Governorate activated the work of the joint committee to implement survey programs and rehabilitation and guidance workshops for abused women, survivors and marginalized victims of domestic violence, ISIS terrorism, and poor standards of living.
The official of the Committee for the Empowerment of Women, Martyrs and the Wounded in the governorate, Intisar Karim, told Al-Sabah: The committee and representatives of the social welfare departments, community police, organizations and the governorate have reactivated the work of the committee formed to eliminate negative phenomena affecting women of different age groups and try to provide assistance to them.
She explained that the work mechanism includes organizing awareness and guidance workshops in the shelter for survivors and abused women, and rehabilitating and integrating women into society, especially those affected by issues of domestic violence, ISIS terrorism, poor standard of living, and family problems.
She added that the committee seeks to obtain job opportunities or receive women’s care salaries in accordance with the established regulations, in addition to returning some girls to school and ending cases of begging.
