    During next June, the Ministry of Interior will open stations within 25 embassies as a first phase, to issue unified national cards to Iraqi communities outside the country, while a specialized team from the Ministry heads to Germany, to receive training for launching the second phase of the project.
    In 2015, the Ministry launched the Unified Card Project, which seeks to provide a solid database for citizens, in addition to launching the electronic passport, all aiming to end all paper transactions and switch to its electronic counterpart.
    The Director of Civil Status, Passports and Residence at the Ministry, Major General Nashaat Al-Khafaji, said: The implementation of the second phase of the unified card project requires advanced programs and accounting systems, which is what called on his ministry to send a delegation to Germany to train on these systems and approve them at the stations that will be opened in the Iraqi embassies, as well as About their training on the intermediate station, which will provide important services to citizens, according to the official newspaper.
    He stated that the opening of the stations in the embassies, which will take place during next June, will be gradual, and the priority will be for countries that include large numbers of the Iraqi community, and will be opened as a first stage, within 25 embassies to register residents on the unified card system and issue it to them, in a way that will spare them the trouble of travel, noting that it will take place during At this stage, the color photo of the person is approved in the unified card.
    Al-Khafaji stated that the registration of citizens within the unified card project had witnessed momentum during the past period, and it does not currently exist in the majority of districts, similar to Sadr City, which was divided into two districts, in addition to the establishment of a center for granting copies of registrations and facilitating administrative transactions, which contributed to reducing
    the momentum there . .
