Shafaq News/ The Federal Ministry of Finance announced, on Thursday, the launch of funding for Kurdistan Region salaries for the month of March.
A statement from the ministry, received by Shafaq News Agency, said, “Based on the directives of the Prime Minister and the approval of the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, and based on what was stated in the letter of the Federal Court, the Accounting Department of the Ministry of Finance launched salary financing for the Kurdistan Region’s civilian employees and entitlements for the disabled in the network directorates.” Social protection, care and social development, salaries of civilian and military retirees, entitlements for the affairs of martyrs and Anfal, contracts, and entitlements of the region’s departments, are within the financial allocations for the month of March 2024.”
The Ministry noted that "it had informed the Federal Court and the Federal Board of Financial Supervision of the launch of funding for the salaries of beneficiaries in the region for the month of March, because the mechanism for completing the localization of their salaries requires an additional period of time."
The Federal Ministry of Finance called on the Kurdistan Regional Government to "bear legal responsibility for the validity and accuracy of the information and data submitted to the regulatory and legal authorities and bodies."
Yesterday, Wednesday, the Federal Ministry of Finance announced the launch of funding for salaries of security personnel in the Kurdistan Region for the month of February.
Later, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, announced that an agreement had been reached with the federal government regarding the file of salaries for the region’s employees.
On Monday, March 11, 2024, the Federal Ministry of Finance announced the launch of funding for the Kurdistan Region’s salaries for the month of February.
On Wednesday, February 21, the Federal Supreme Court (the highest judicial authority in Iraq) decided to oblige both the Prime Minister of the Federal Council, Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, and the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, to localize the salaries of employees and workers in the public sector with federal banks.
