Shafaq News/ The American “Washington Institute” asked whether the two attacks that targeted two American forces’ bases in Ain al-Assad and Al-Hasakah in Syria, and are believed to have been carried out by Iraqi factions, represent the end of the unofficial ceasefire that has been in place for about two months, suggesting that they reflect a new approach on the part of a force. Jerusalem and the Iraqi factions.
The American report, translated by Shafaq News Agency, stated that the Iranian-backed militias have shown “strict discipline” so far, and have not claimed responsibility for either of the attacks on the Kharab al-Jir base in Hasakah in Syria or the al-Assad air base in Iraq, indicating that efforts were made. In order to avoid American retaliation, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed that he would continue to press for American withdrawal.
The report pointed out that the attack on the Kharba al-Jir and Ain al-Assad bases, according to press reports and American officials, indicates the use of missiles and drones against these American bases in Iraq and Syria for the first time since February 4, 2024.
After the report pointed out that the previous attacks on Kharab al-Jir were usually attributed to the Al-Nujaba Movement, and that the attack on Ain al-Assad may have been carried out from a specific point in Iraq or Syria, but the previous attacks on this base in Anbar were usually attributed to the Hezbollah Brigades. God.
After the report asked whether the ceasefire had ended, it said that militia channels on Telegram had expressed, over the past few days, their increasing frustration with the coalition forces, specifically what they considered to be a delay in their withdrawal and the role of the United States and the coalition in supporting Israel against Iran, which is This apparently indicates a decline in acceptance of the continuation of the ceasefire.
According to the report, the two attacks were a coordinated act by Harakat al-Nujaba and Kataib Hezbollah, with the approval of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, to express a signal of dissatisfaction with the Sudanese Prime Minister during his return to Baghdad from Washington, and in order to remind him of who rules Iraq, and urge him to put pressure on... Coalition forces to set a specific timetable for withdrawal.
The report considered that there is evidence of the coordination that took place, which reflects the involvement of the Quds Force in the operational field through Al-Nujaba and the Phalange, and also involvement in the electronic field through “discipline in the message” directed, adding also that the two attacks were carried out carefully so as not to cause casualties. Among the ranks of the American forces, responsibility for the two attacks was not announced. Rather, Kataib Hezbollah was keen to deny its involvement, indicating that efforts were being made to avoid an escalation that might expose Kataib Hezbollah and Iran to danger.
The report believed that the behavior of the “resistance” in the media regarding these two attacks may indicate the presence of a new approach that was adopted across networks, including the Hezbollah and Al-Nujaba Brigades networks, which often reflects coordination by the Quds Force.
The report pointed out that armed groups may be carrying out an operation to test the resolve of the United States, but in a way that makes it easy for the United States to ignore it, explaining that this is done through limited attacks that do not amount to compromising the threshold of American retaliation, and which are not flaunted in celebration by anyone. The main resistance channels, at the same time, give Iran, Al-Nujaba, and Kataib Hezbollah the ability to completely deny their responsibility at the expense of other considerations, and makes it difficult for Washington to attribute such attacks to specific militias.
