The Directorate of Civil Status, Passports and Residence, affiliated with the Ministry of Interior, announced today, Monday, the implementation of the electronic payment system and the complete cessation of cash.
A statement by the directorate received by Mawazine News stated, “In implementation of the directives of the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, and under the supervision of the Director General, Major General Nashat Ibrahim Al-Khafaji, it was decided to fully operate with the electronic payment system (pos) only and to stop receiving cash payments permanently.”
He added, "The above decision is effective from the first of next May," noting that "the directorate's departments are fully equipped with electronic payment devices."
He stated, "This step comes to keep pace with development and facilitate procedures for citizens."
