    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Thursday (May 16, 2024), member of the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee, Haitham Al-Zarkani, revealed the mechanism for preventing the entry of smuggled goods into Iraq.
Al-Zarkani told “Baghdad Today” that “the entry of goods trucks into Iraq through land border crossings takes place through numerous audit and security procedures,” noting that “there is an audit by the Ports Authority as well as customs in addition to the competent security services.”
He added, "There is a high-level audit and inspection mechanism taken at all land border crossings, and for this reason smuggling attempts or the entry of some smuggled goods are detected," stressing that "no truck can cross without this series of audit and inspection procedures."
Al-Zarkani stressed, "intensifying these measures to prevent any attempt to smuggle or enter any goods or others illegally."
It is noteworthy that the General Authority of Customs announced the implementation of the ASYCUDA system in 4 centers on an experimental basis, while confirming its endeavor to disseminate this system by 50% by the end of this year and completely by the middle of next year.
