    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, confirmed today, Thursday (May 16, 2024), that there is no Iranian military interference in the affairs of Iraq, while indicating that the armed factions in the country are Iraqi, not Iranian.
Rashid said in a press interview followed by “Baghdad Today” that “the Arab summit will take strong decisions to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people,” calling on “the international community to put pressure to stop the fighting in Gaza and bring in aid.”
He added, "Netanyahu rejected all international resolutions and calls to stop the war in Gaza," stressing that "the continuation of massacres in Gaza is unacceptable."
He continued, "Iraqi-Arab relations have improved significantly in the recent period," noting that "Arab issues are not complicated with the exception of the Palestinian issue."
He pointed out that "the relationship with Iran is historical and strong, and some of the accusations against Iran are incorrect," indicating that "there is no Iranian military interference in the affairs of Iraq."
He believed that "the attack by some factions on the American bases were individual and partisan movements and not supported by the government," noting that "the border disputes with Iran were resolved through dialogue."
He explained, "There are other countries that violate Iraq's borders and security, but the media does not talk about them," noting that "Turkish interference in Iraqi affairs continues and we are seeking to find solutions to the problems with Turkey."
