Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani issued a number of measures to develop the work of the Trade Bank of Iraq  (TBI) and increase its contributions to financing and economic development.
A government source told Mail: “Within the framework of the Iraqi government’s interest in reforming and developing the banking sector, the Prime Minister directed the implementation of a number of measures to develop the work of the Trade Bank of Iraq  (TBI) and increase its contributions to financing and economic development of the country.”
According to the source, among the measures that Al-Sudani directed were:
First: Forming a joint committee between (the Prime Minister’s Office, the Central Bank, and the Trade Bank of Iraq) that will study and evaluate the loans granted by the bank to the private sector (individuals and companies) and ways to settle defaulting ones through a proposed incentive plan in this regard, provided that the committee will complete its work within a month from now.
Second: Assigning the Iraqi Trade Bank to prepare a study on granting loans and stimulating the private sector to make the most of the credit services provided by the bank, to be submitted within a month.
Third: Implementing the plan proposed by the Central Bank to develop the activities of the Iraqi Trade Bank through:
    1. Increasing the number of bank branches in Baghdad and the governorates, especially in governorates with broad economic activity.
    2. Facilitating and simplifying the provision of services in all aspects, taking care of the bank’s customers, and determining mechanisms to monitor and follow up on this.
    3. Reviewing the system of wages and commissions charged by the bank in order to achieve the greatest possible customer attraction and to help achieve the goal of exchange rate stability and general price stability in the interest of citizens.
