Initiating the formation of the “National Youth Team for Climate Change”

As part of the government program to pay attention to the youth sector, the Supreme Council for Youth launched the application form for the National Youth Team for Climate Change, which includes (1,000) young men and women who are specialists and interested in issues related to the environment and climate change and from all Iraqi governorates.
Advisor to the Prime Minister for Youth Affairs and member of the Supreme Youth Council, Dr. Qasim Al-Zalimi, stated in an interview with Al-Sabah that “the number of applicants for the application form for the National Youth Team for Climate Change is more than (6,000) young men and women.”
He pointed out that "the Secretariat of the Supreme Council is in the interview phase to select (1,000) volunteers from all Iraqi governorates to be part of the National Climate Change Team, and the interview will be for (500) volunteers from Baghdad today and tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday) and in person, while the interview will be for volunteers from Governorates (online) via social networking sites.
He explained that "the formation of the team aims to strengthen the role of Iraqi youth in confronting the limitations resulting from climate change and enhancing institutional cooperation with the authorities concerned with the environment and climate, as well as proposing solutions and programs to confront climate challenges."
He added, "The team's work will focus on several important axes, most notably awareness and education, conducting research and studies, participating in legislation, initiatives, activities and events related to climate change, and building joint cooperation to enable young people to volunteer for this important issue."
