[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The National Investment Commission hosted today, Thursday, the third meeting of the technical team for the National Climate Investment Plan in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Mona Al-Jaberi, head of the technical team and representative of the Commission, confirmed in a statement that "this meeting is a continuation of previous meetings in preparation for the launch of the plan, which is part of the efforts aimed at promoting sustainable investments that take into account climate impacts."
Al-Jaberi explained that "this meeting came to study the progress in implementing the National Climate Investment Plan, and exchange views on the challenges and opportunities available in this field, and that the cooperation between the Commission and the United Nations Development Program reflects Iraq's commitment to achieving sustainable development and facing climate challenges through thoughtful and sustainable investment strategies."
The meeting, which was attended by representatives of the ministries concerned with climate change (Finance, Higher Education, Construction and Housing, Environment, Agriculture, Planning, Baghdad Municipality, Industry, Iraqi Engineers Syndicate, Transportation, Iraqi Contractors Union, and Oil), discussed setting clear goals for the climate investment plan and how to achieve them, available funding sources for climate projects, and how to attract foreign and local investments, to ensure the success of the plan's projects.
The meeting reviewed "the latest technologies and sustainable solutions that can be applied in future projects, as well as enhancing cooperation with international organizations and donors to exchange knowledge and expertise to confront the risk of desertification as a result of water shortages, unsustainable agricultural methods, and climate changes that lead to rising temperatures and decreasing rainfall." / End H[/rtl]
