    Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stressed, today, Thursday (July 25, 2024), the importance of completing the formation of the Kirkuk government and reaching consensus among the representatives of its components.
    The Prime Minister's media office said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", that "Al-Sudani received, today, Thursday, members of the Kirkuk Provincial Council from the Arab component, as part of his follow-up on the efforts of the national forces in the council to choose a governor for the province, and to proceed with forming the local government."
    During the meeting, Al-Sudani stressed, according to the statement, "the importance of completing the formation of the local government, and the consensus between the representatives of the governorate's sister components, and ensuring the effective participation of everyone, and not marginalizing any component in decision-making due to the governorate's special nature, and the necessity of cooperation of all national forces in it, in order to achieve the aspirations of its people and the continuation of government plans in the service and development aspects, and to achieve an economic renaissance, in integration with the government program and its targets, which meet the needs of citizens in all parts of Iraq."
    Al-Sudani stressed that "the government's success in holding local elections in Kirkuk, after the difficulty of holding them since 2005, represents an important step towards establishing stability in the province, and fulfilling what it promised in its program," stressing that "the provincial councils and local governments are the executive wing and the backer supporting the government, in its quest to complete its service and economic tasks and duties, and in various areas of development."
