    Water Resources spokesman Khaled Shamal explained on Tuesday that Turkish companies are implementing strategic projects in the field of water resources development and these projects are proposed and agreed upon by the Iraqi government, in addition to the topics included in the framework agreement between Iraq and Turkey in the field of water, from information exchange, periodic meetings, and joint management of the Tigris and Euphrates basins, which guarantees Iraq's water rights.
    Shamal said in a televised interview followed by "Al-Eqtisad News" that the Prime Minister directed the launch of the first package of water projects within the framework agreement for water, and the first package of these projects includes the construction of three dams, including Al-Kharaz Dam in Samawah Governorate, Abu Takia Dam in Nineveh Governorate, and Al-Ubayd Dam in Karbala, indicating that the new dams will be used to revitalize important areas, prevent flooding towards cities, and ensure the natural landscape of the area in which they are located.
    He added that the water management file is still in the transitional phase from primitive irrigation to modernity, and therefore these companies will work with the institutions and formations of the Ministry of Water Resources.
    He pointed out that there are strategic projects, including land reclamation projects that ensure food security and the move towards modern irrigation, such as the Alexandria Muhawwal project, with an area of ​​150 thousand dunums, the Muthanna irrigation project, with an area of ​​more than 46 thousand dunums, and the Al-Huwayjah land reclamation project, which will ensure the implementation of pioneering projects that achieve a transition to regulated or closed irrigation, and the second is achieving water sustainability.
