Northern America and Canada burn: Sleepy Hollow Fire Burns Wenatchee, Washington..Oregon and parts of Canada burning!

A raging wildfire in central Washington state has burned through thousands of acres, damaged dozens of homes and forced residents to evacuate.
For hours on Monday, residents faced a new threat - an ammonia leak - after embers caught a recycling plant on fire, sending smoke rising from the facility.
But emergency management officials in Chelan County, Washington, later advised residents that the ammonia had dissipated and was no longer an issue.
The fire began Sunday afternoon outside Wenatchee but was burning within the city limits late Sunday night, Rich Magnussen of the Chelan County Sheriff's Office said.
Officials are referring to it as the Sleepy Hollow Fire because the blaze started on Sleepy Hollow Road.
The fast-moving fire "significantly damaged" an estimated 24 to 28 homes, Wenatchee Mayor Frank Kuntz said.
"It was intense, large embers blowing everywhere, roofs catching on fire, vegetation around the house, just spreading from house to house, and the firefighters were doing everything they could to keep it contained to the structures that were involved, and keep it away from the uninvolved structures," Mike Burnett, Chelan County fire chief, told reporters.
The cause of the fire was uncertain, but temperatures in the region have topped 100 degrees Fahrenheit for days, and rainfall has been scarce.
About 3,000 acres have burned as of Monday, according to the Chelan County Fire Department. Several firefighters suffered minor injuries, including smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion, while battling the blaze, the department said.
"My thoughts and prayers are with Wenatchee this morning," Washington Gov.
Jay Inslee said in a statement Monday.



Oregon wildfire
"Yet again, our state is experiencing a catastrophic wildfire that has displaced families and shut down businesses, as well as risked the lives of our firefighters and emergency personnel."
Firefighters attacked several new wildfires fueled by windy conditions Monday afternoon, according to an evening update from the Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center. At 100 acres, a blaze burning on the southeast corner of the Black Canyon Wilderness in the Ochoco National Forest was the largest of the day, according to the update. None of the fire had been contained as of 8 p.m. A 30-acre fire reported Monday about 1 mile south of Dayville became the second largest of the day, according to the dispatch center. Several engines and single-engine air tankers worked to stop the fire's forward progress and protect homes. Firefighters also lined a 7-acre fire about 4 miles west of Mill Creek Wilderness. By evening, they were mopping up. Two other fire starts on the Deschutes National Forest were held to less than half an acre, according to the update. The Sugarloaf Fire remains the largest in the region. It has burned 4,612 acres about 8 miles south of Dayville and was still 20 percent contained as of this evening.


Canada Province of Saskatchewan 
The smoke from forest fires in the northern part of Saskatchewan is drifting all the way to the province's U.S. border, prompting Environment Canada to issue an air quality advisory. The only area spared the advisory is the southwest. The smoke is expected to hang around a few days and is coming from 116 fires currently burning. Along with pictures, people have been sharing dramatic videos of the wildfires. In Prince Albert and in the Qu'Appelle Valley near Lumsden, a haze can be seen in the air on Monday morning. The largest fire near Weyakwin is three times the size of Yorkton. Steve Roberts with the Ministry of Environment said they have asked for help from across the country. A group from Quebec is already helping fight the fires while more are arriving from Newfoundland and Ontario. If they need more help, the ministry will put a call out to the U.S. "We have over 550 direct personnel on the lines fighting fires and over 55 aircraft directly involved in fire suppression," Roberts said. Hot, dry conditions are expected to continue over the next 24 hours. There is smoke in all areas of the northern forest. The heaviest smoke in the province is between Saskatoon and the northwest corner of the province. There have been 510 fires in 2015 to date. There are nearly 50 fires that are larger than 100 hectares burning in Saskatchewan, spreading from one side of the province to the other in the north.
