Hi Mochasmon, re the Kurds/ISIS article, something that large of a story would have been covered by other reporters as well, so I am not too such how true it is.

Tariffs start the process of economic development.

Which comes first, economic development, then a rate change, or vice versa.

I believe when enough investors (dollars) start pouring into Iraq, which will support a rate change, then the rate will change.

Remember, at a higher rate, the CBI has to convert dinars to dollars, this will draw down their dollars reserves.  If sufficient investors are present that will give up their dollars for dinar, then there will be no draw down.

From previous articles, the delete the zeros project will coincide with economic development.

They have stated that the CBI has a schedule.

Some believe that Iraq could support a higher rate at any time.  Some believe the rate will change gradually.  Take your pick.

By the way, I just had this debate with a friend of mine who is a Professor of Economics.  He thinks the rate change is necessary to start economic development.  His point is, the Iraqis people need money to invest in their own country.  First,  injecting it into the banking system, then into projects.

I think the professor is right the rate change will be needed if they want people to build, borrow from banks for loans and if they want Iraqis to put money into the banks! They need a reason just like Germany people will need to go to banks to exchange!
