Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: Iraqi security sourced disclosed that there are "corruption suspicions within

the US-Iraqi military agreement, called in initials as FMS.

The agreement is related to the maintenance of planes and training the Iraqi forces.

Iraqi Parliamentary Security and Defence Commission stated that most of the contracts for past periods were enveloped with corruption due to the non-commitment in the texts of the military agreements.

Member of the Commission, MP Imad Youkhana, pointed that the lack in transparency and non-informing the parliament were the main reasons, which were uncovered during the interrogation of the previous defence minister Khalid al-Obaidi.

The contracts uncovered by Obaidi included USA and Russia, but no names were disclosed.

He added that contract for the maintenance of the planes was signed between the Iraqi government and a "civilian company, not military".
