NEW YORK (Reuters) - Nearly one billion dollars of Iraqi military equipment is missing as a result of negligence, according to a new US Senate report on excessive government spending.
"A $ 85 million loan to a hotel complex in Kabul, $ 1 billion of lost military equipment to Iraqi forces and a grant of $ 30,000," Fox News quoted Republican Senator James Lancford as saying in the 86-page report to the Senate on government spending. Dollars for the Doughe Helmeth project, are just a few examples of excessive government spending. "
He added that the lengthy report from the Republican senator identified an amount of $ 437.6 billion in government spending, excessive and ineffective.
"We have a variety of very small areas to large areas of spending and areas where the federal government has been neglected," said a member of the US Congress of Lancreved in Oklahoma.
"The $ 1 billion of missing equipment for the Iraqi army has been disclosed in the US Inspector General's report to the Defense Department, including small arms and Humvees that have been seen in Kuwait," he said.
"We do not know what happened to her after that," he said, adding that "one billion dollars of military equipment we hope to have occurred in the right hands, but the Ministry of Defense did not follow the subject and we do not know what happened to it."
