The Joint Operations Command denied that the Popular Popular fighters had been subjected to US bombing.
"It denies any attack on members of the Popular Propaganda Authority in western Anbar and that the media incidents occurred outside the Iraqi border and did not affect the popular crowd or any other Iraqi forces," a command statement told The Twilight News.
The brigades of Sayyid al-Shuhadaa said their forces had been targeted by a heavy US bombardment that killed and wounded a large number of them, calling for an urgent meeting of leaders of the Islamic factions in Iraq to consider the appropriate response in a timely manner.
Although the US Department of Defense initially denied any coalition operations in the area at this time, the leader of the popular crowd, Karim Nuri, said that the US threat is clearly reflected by targeting what is known as the "Brigades of the martyrs," pointing out that "Not done by mistake".
