The feast revives tourism in the marshes

In the southern Iraqi marshes, large numbers of foreign and local tourists are arriving during the first day of Eid al-Adha.

"The tourism of southern Iraq in the marshes is witnessing a remarkable increase in the number of Iraqi tourists during the holidays, as the families and young people go to these areas despite the heat of the atmosphere, but it is an important haven for rest and recreation," said Jassem al-Asadi, director of Nature Iraq.

He added that his organization monitored the high rates of tourists coming to the areas of the central marshes.

He pointed out that "most of the visits of tourist delegations focused on the areas of the central marshes in the Chabaish and Hawar donkey and the important archaeological sites in the city of Nasiriyah.

He pointed out that the security stability and the prices of sleeping hotels encouraged the increase in the number of visitors and extend the duration of their visit to enjoy a wonderful environment, and seek to commission a number of departments concerned to prepare a tourist map to regulate the movement of tourists throughout the province, including areas of marshes and relics.

While the Dhi Qar provincial council called on the central government to release funds to support the marshlands.

"The central government should release funds to support the marshlands," said Abdul Rahman al-Taei, head of the Marshlands Restoration Committee in the Dhi Qar provincial council.

"The government pledged earlier to support the management of the marshes after it entered the World Heritage List," he said.

Hoping that "the government will contribute to the development and transformation of water areas into a kiss for tourists.
