The Peruvian government announced that the North Korean ambassador had an undesirable personality and had given him five days to leave the country.

"The Peruvian government has designated North Korean Ambassador Kim Khak Chol as an undesirable person and has asked him to leave the country within five days," the Peruvian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said the decision was made by the government "because of the repeated and flagrant violations by North Korea of UN Security Council resolutions and its disregard for the calls of the international community to implement its obligations."

A similar decision was made last Friday by the Mexican authorities.

These developments stemmed from North Korea's announcement on September 3 of the successful test of a hydrogen bomb that could be used as the warhead of an intercontinental ballistic missile in a move that has drawn widespread international criticism.
