    [ltr]Oil prices held steady on Thursday, supported by expectations that Saudi Arabia and Russia would agree to extend oil production cuts, although record US exports and the resumption of supplies from the Libyan oilfield had an impact on markets.[/ltr]
    [ltr]As of 0659 GMT, Brent crude futures were trading at $ 55.81 a barrel, up 1 cent from the last settlement price.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday there was a possibility to extend an agreement by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and independent producers to cut oil production to support prices until the end of 2018 after its end in March next year.[/ltr]
