    Information / Baghdad ..
The Jordanian newspaper "Al-Ghad" revealed on Thursday that the Iraqi authorities handed over to Jordan a list of 200 products to verify the existence of factories produced in the Kingdom before studying exemption from customs duties.
"The Iraqi side's inquiry about the existence of factories also comes to ensure its production capacity, and this is within the conditions of exempting the producer from customs duties imposed on all imports last year by 30%," the newspaper said in a report.
The newspaper added that "the Iraqi side also handed out the negative lists imposed by customs duty, which includes about 400 goods indicating that the industrial chambers and the Ministry of Industry and Trade Supply and the Customs Department is sorting these lists in order to circulate to workers in the sector soon.
Jordan handed Iraq a list of 750 products to exempt it from customs duties and approved the exemption of 340 commodities according to the previous statements of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply expressed by the judges.
The judges said that the government, in agreement with the Iraqi side, would review every three months the list of exempted goods to include a greater number of national goods; and expected to enter into force early next year.
The Iraqi side stipulated after a series of meetings held with the Jordanian side, according to the newspaper, "three conditions for exemption of Jordanian goods from customs duties, namely, determining the production capacity of Jordanian factories, and the commitment to the agricultural calendar in Iraq and not include the goods issued by the decisions of the Council of Ministers on protecting them in its capacity An Iraqi national product. "
Jordanian exports to Iraq peaked in 2013 to reach 882 million Jordanian dinars, while in 2016 they fell to 330 million dinars.
According to the newspaper, the private sector relies heavily on the Iraqi market, which is one of the main markets for national exports, especially after the reopening of the crossing of Trebil and the decision to exempt Jordanian goods from customs duties.
The Iraqi government decided to reduce the tariff rates imposed on imports of goods from early next year, with a minimum fee of 0.5% and the upper limit of 30%.
The decree includes the unification of the customs duties on the customs items within the same section and determining them in four categories; the first of which is the customs fee of 0.5%, and includes several commodities including precious metals, wood and its products, paperboard, textile materials and transport equipment.
The second category consists of 10% customs duties, including several commodities including live animals, animal kingdom products, plant kingdom products, food industry products and chemical industries.
As for the third category, the customs duties are 15% and include several commodities, the most important are raw and tanned skins, fur skins, articles of this material, hand bags and representative containers.
As for the fourth category, customs duties are 30%, and include several commodities, including sound recording equipment, photo broadcasting, electrical equipment, artifacts, tobacco and tobacco substitutes. Ending / 25
