The Jordanian authorities have exempted 541 Jordanian products from customs duties.
The judges told the Jordanian media that "the exemption of products comes after the request of the Iraqi side, to verify the existence of factories in the Kingdom to make those products before the study of exemption," pointing out that "Iraq stipulated a set of criteria to exempt those products."
He explained that "Iraq stipulated compliance with the Iraqi agricultural calendar, and the inclusion of products protected by the decisions of the Council of Ministers, as national products and determine the productive capacity of Jordanian factories."
This comes after the opening of the Trebil crossing between Iraq and Jordan last year, while the trade movement witnessed a remarkable activity between the two countries, especially after the end of the war with the organization of the call, and the direction of the destroyed areas to reconstruction and compensation of the affected.
Jordanian exports to Iraq peaked in 2013 to reach 882 million dinars, while in 2016 they fell to 330 million dinars.
The Iraqi authorities have taken measures that Jordan considered strict, after Jordanian trucks were prevented from entering Iraq directly, and even reached the border and transported cargo to other trucks and from them into Iraqi territory.
Despite Iraqi decisions on exempting Jordanian products from fees, Jordanian manufacturers confirmed that fees were paid by Iraqi customs.
"There is concern among many export workers about the continued payment of duties on goods despite mutual agreements between the two countries on exempting their products," industrialists told local media. "The trade recovery needs Iraqi trucks to enter Jordan and vice versa."
The crossing was opened last August between the two countries, after the war on the organization of Dahesh, and the crossing is in the province of Anbar, the largest Iraqi provinces, and reports that some armed factions are still interfering in the movement of trade inside the crossing, and impose their vision on Iraqi importers and impose fees On imported products.
