    The Council of the province of Dhi Qar, the approval of the Ministry of Transport to offer the airport Nasiriyah as an investment opportunity for companies wishing to develop, while referring to the approval of the flight between Nasiriyah and Mashhad airport as of Wednesday, confirmed the possibility of flights to Beirut, Dubai and Istanbul in the future near.
    The Chairman of the Technical Committee and a member of the Nasiriyah Airport Committee in the Dhi Qar Governorate, Engineer Hassan al-Asadi, after meeting with the delegation accompanying him, Minister of Transport Kazem Venjan Al-Hamami said that "the approval of the Minister of Transport was obtained on the launch of Nasiriyah airport as an investment opportunity for companies wishing to develop it, Governorate". 
    Al-Asadi pointed out that "the discussions with the minister touched on a number of issues related to Nasiriyah Civil Airport and ways to develop it and complete the infrastructure in it to be fully ready to receive international and domestic flights." 
    "As approval was received for the conduct of a flight between Nasiriyah and Mashhad airport from Wednesday, it will be the first flight to the Iranian city," he said. 
    For his part, the head of the Dhi Qar provincial council Hamid Naim al-Ghazi revealed the possibility of launching flights to Beirut, Dubai and Istanbul.
    Al-Ghazi said in a press release, "The next year will see direct international flights from Nasiriyah airport to Beirut, Dubai and Turkey and work to increase the number of flights to other countries." He confirmed the official approval of the opening of Nasiriyah- " 
    The flights will be at the rate of one trip per week with the possibility of increasing the number of flights according to the number of passengers to the city of Mashhad" He 
    noted that "the delegation of the Council agreed with the Minister to form a committee of the Civil Aviation Authority to complete the infrastructure of the airport And security equipment, as well as belonging to Appoints a security company to handle airport security in agreement with the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority. "
    An official delegation from the province of Dhi Qar, including the head of the provincial council and technical committee chairman Hassan al-Asadi and council member Rajah Matroud al-Aboudi discussed with the Minister of Transport a number of issues related to the development of work at Nasiriyah International Airport, which opened earlier this year within Imam Ali Air Base. 
    The Minister of Transport Kazem Vajan al-Hammami announced on Friday (10 March 2017) the opening of Nasiriyah International Airport, indicating that the first flight began SRJ aircraft with a capacity of 50 seats from Baghdad airport to Nasiriyah, the first free flight, and is likely to start other future trips to Najaf, Mashhad and Mecca And revealed the Vatican's approval for the establishment of a tourist hotel to receive Christian pilgrims during their visit to the house of the Prophet Ibrahim Hebron in the ancient city of Or (18 km southwest of Nasiriyah).
