The Electoral Commission (IHEC) has approved the establishment of 58 new parties after the completion of all procedures and instructions issued by the Commission.
The chairman of the Board of Commissioners Maan al-Hitawi, in a statement received (range) a copy of it, "The Board of Commissioners approved the granting of leave of establishment of 58 new parties."
"These parties have completed all the procedures and instructions issued by the Commission and the rules of conduct in accordance with the provisions of the law of political parties legislator by the House of Representatives, which will be allowed to participate in the upcoming electoral entitlements."
The Council of Ministers announced last October that the 12 May 2018 date would be set for the elections, followed two months later by a decision to merge parliamentary and local elections on the same date.
"These parties have completed all the procedures and instructions issued by the Commission and the rules of conduct in accordance with the provisions of the law of political parties legislator by the House of Representatives, which will be allowed to participate in the upcoming electoral entitlements."
