[Asharq Al-Awsat] Oil Minister Jabbar al-Allaibi arrived Thursday morning in the oil-and-gas-rich province of Kirkuk between Arbil and Baghdad.
An informed source told Shafak News that the oil minister had held a meeting with the governor, Rakan Said, and with the management of the North Oil Company.
An Iraqi oil official said his country plans to sign an agreement with BP on Thursday to boost crude production from Kirkuk's oil fields in the north of the country.
The deal will be signed at the headquarters of the state-run Iraqi Oil Company (NOC), which operates the fields, the official told Reuters.
