The sources said in a press statement: "The number of covered accountability and justice procedures amounted to 374 candidates, will not be allowed to participate in the elections, while the number of candidates are not covered (6898) candidates."
She explained: "The number of candidates summoned by the accountability and justice because of the similarity of names or lack of documents swallowed up (682) candidates," pointing out that: "The number of candidates who attended the summons reached (582) while absent one hundred of them for reasons other than known ".
The sources pointed out that "there are 72 candidates who have been summoned by the accountability and justice, filed appeals before the discriminatory body against the decision to exclude them, and the Commission began to review their appeals to ensure the integrity of the procedures."
The Law of Accountability and Justice No. 10 of 2008 allows the Baathists to participate in political life based on the provisions of Article (135) of the Constitution, which obliges the Commission to de-Baathification in coordination with the judiciary and the executive bodies.
