Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Supreme National Authority for Accountability and Justice revealed, on Thursday, the number of candidates who were excluded from participating in the recent legislative elections.
The commission's spokesman, Haider Al-Agaili, told Shafaq News Agency, "The commission checked the names of the candidates for the legislative elections that took place on the tenth of last October, and it was found that 230 candidates are covered by the commission's procedures."
He added that "the candidates covered by the Commission's procedures submitted appeals to the Discriminatory Commission, and the Commission returned them to the elections, but the Electoral Commission, in turn, submitted an appeal against the Discriminatory Commission's decision, and they were excluded from participating in the elections."
The Iraqi legislative elections were held on the tenth of last October, and the Sadrist movement led by Muqtada al-Sadr won first with 73 seats, followed by the "Progress" coalition led by Muhammad al-Halbousi with 37 seats, followed by the State of Law coalition led by Nuri al-Maliki with 33 seats, and then the Democratic Party Kurdistan has 31 seats.
As a result, several Shiite blocs announced their rejection of the election results and formed what has become known as the coordinating framework, and submitted appeals to the Federal Court for the recounting and manual counting of a number of polling stations, and the Federal Court has not yet announced its decision regarding the lawsuit filed by the leader of the Fatah Alliance Hadi.
